2016 Art Work

Untitled

I'm not really satisfied with this painting.  But I've been told never to throw a painting or drawing away.  You use it as a lesson for improvement for the next time.  This was done with acrylic paint on 11x14 mixed media paper.

In The Glow of the Moon

Image
I am usually taking pictures of the moon.  This time I decided to paint it.

Autumn Barn

Image
A red barn is such a beautiful sight.  But why are a lot of barns painted red?  According to the Farmer's Almanac hundreds  of years ago, many farmers would seal their  barns  with linseed oil, which is an orange-colored oil derived from the seeds of the flax plant. To this oil, they would add a variety of things, most often milk and lime, but also ferrous oxide, or rust. ... It turned the mixture  red  in color. From Dora Explorer to Ninja Turtles

Image
Not that I have anything against Dora Explorer, but my Uncle (Kaiden's great, great uncle), gave us this Dora Explorer sofa.  He is always getting things from folks (he works at a waste station).  The wheels in my head started turning.  So a trip to Walmart and a yard and a half later of material along with 2 days recreating and now we have a Ninja Turtle sofa.  Kaiden loves it!

Mickey Mouse Day

Image
Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney and Ub Swerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928.  Originally his character was a mischievous antihero, but over time he was rebranded as a flawed, adventurous hero. "I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing--that it was all started by a mouse."--Walt Disney, 1954 Mickey Mouse baby crochet outfit.

Glasses--Daily Challenge #3

Image
Acrylic I will need to really do some practicing on this.  Working from the book "Acrylic Painting with Lee Hammond", this was one of the first exercises: to paint glass and shine.  I'll keep trying until I get it right.

February Goals and Plans

Image
Welcome to the first day of February! I have a real busy month planned for myself. LOL. Practice, practice, practice. So I plan on setting myself a painting/drawing challenge by doing a painting or drawing each day during the month. This is added to my weekly photo challenge. Each week I'll be working on a themed crochet item to add to my online store. And I'm doing 3 online MOOCs (Personal Branding, Marketing and using ePortfolios and PLE (Personal Learning Environments). Busy, busy, busy! Hoping everyone has a great February!

Working on Concept Sketches

Image
I began working on some concept sketches for a personal brand for a client today. I thought of some ideas for the past few days (what I call marinating on it) and now to get the ideas out of my head and onto paper to see if the client likes any of them.
